This accession consists of records lands legislation from the Lands Division of the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs, its predecessor Department of Local Government, and the federal Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, its predecessor Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources, and its predecessor Department of Resources and Development.

The records relate to the Territorial Lands Act (Canada), Territorial Land Use Regulations (Canada), Territorial Timber Regulations (Canada), Territorial Lands Regulations (Canada), Public Lands Grants Act (Canada), Land Titles Act (Canada), Land Titles Plans Regulations (Canada), An Ordinance Respecting Lands of the Northwest Territories/Territorial Lands Ordinance (NWT), Commissioners' Land Ordinance/Act (NWT), Land Titles Act (NWT), Planning Ordinance (NWT), Local Government Ordinance (NWT), and Local Authorities Election Ordinance (NWT).

General Directorate records including Senior Management Committee records (2006-2009) and entries in the GNWT Public Committees, Boards and Councils Handbook. MGP-related records include Joint Coordinating Committee and MGP Intervention Workshop records, MGP GNWT Handbook, organizational charts and job descriptions for the Pipeline Readiness Office, draft GNWT General Submission to the Joint Review Panel on the MGP, MGP Socio-Economic Agreement, reports from regional workshops on social impacts of the MGP, records of stakeholder consultation meetings, local impact assessments, and pipeline readiness funding administration, presentation materials, correspondence, reports, proposals, minutes, and briefing material.

Operational records also include files related to land reform and land development and community planning files relating to bylaws. Administrative records include files relating to legislation/regulations, briefing notes, municipal finance review, guidelines for funding programs and policies, community empowerment (specifically the transfer of infrastructure), an administrative agreement, an interdepartmental committee on agriculture development, and a NOGAP (Northern Oil and Gas Plan) project.

Records include operational evaluation files of the communities of Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, and Tuktoyaktuk, as well as planning and management files related to the Tulita Recreation Complex, and the Enterprise Community Hall. Lands division records include reports and recommendations on land information management, legal ownership of land and roadways, and granular material studies from various regions. This accession consists of records from the Land Administration Division of the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs, primarily relating to policies and procedures. The records includes presentation slides from the New Deal For NWT Community Governments MACA Lands Conference, a draft 2009-2014 Strategic Plan, a copy of the land administration agreement with DIAND, procedures, process flowcharts, checklists, application and report forms, notices, templates and samples, presentation slides, meeting minutes, discussion papers, duty delegation chart, Land Titles information and samples, and correspondence. The records also include copies of the Commissioner’s Land Act, Area Development Act and Regulations, Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief Act, General Sanitation Regulations, and Land Pricing Policy.

The records relate to the Land Development Loan Fund Act and Regulations, Commissioner's Land Act and Regulations, briefing notes, Resolutions from the Association of Municipalities and GNWT follow-up, surveys and mapping, agricultural policy, land use policy development, airport lands and transfer, recreation lease policy around Yellowknife, Land Development and Disposal, Land Administration Policy and Practice, Land Disposal Policy and Directive, Land Pricing Policy and Directive, Land Valuation Policy and Directive, Land Pricing and Subsidy Policy, and Land Lease-Only Policy and Directive.
