The film is entitled "Dene Nation." The sound recordings document dance and music from "Our Land, Our Life" comprised of recordings from Fort Good Hope of drum music, Dene songs and North Slavey (Hareskin) language; as well as audio from slide shows and films, including "My Country My People," "I Was Born Here" and "Dene Nation." The sound recordings from Fort Good Hope, likely recorded in 1957, feature members of the Pierrot, Kakfwi, Remi, Edgi, Masuzumi, Lafferty, Cotchilly, Taureau, Emmanuel, and Kelly families.

The textual records are comprised of copies of research, legal documents and reports related to Treaty 8, and is primarily concerned with taxation. The sound recording, entitled "The Winds of Change", was produced by CBC Calgary, most likely in the early-1970s. The documentary discussed the changes happening in the North. Northwest Territories' communities described in the piece included Tuktoyaktuk, Inuvik, Yellowknife, Fort Smith, and Hay River.

Records are comprised of transcripts of eight interviews conducted by Jane Kenny in Deline in June 1984, as well as a file containing minutes and correspondence related to the first and second meetings of the Thebacha Association in 1967, a Fort Smith-based political association that was a precursor to the Indian Brotherhood.

Records are comprised of 4 pages of typewritten text of the reminisces of Paul Vaudrack [Voudrach] of Fort Good Hope dated October 12, 1968. The original manuscript was handwritten; Father Rene Fumoleau OMI created the typed copy. The manuscript depicts Gwich'in life before the time of 'aid from government' in the first years of the twentieth century, including the construction of birchbark canoes, whaling, fishing, the outbreak of influenza, Father Giroux and the role of the Church, and the influence of the English language and residential schools.

The three film reels are of "I Was Born Here;" "I Was Born Here French version" (also known as 'Mon pays est ma vie'), and "Dene Nation" (First Answer Print). The BetaCam videocassette and DVCam videocassette are copies of "Mon pays est ma vie." René Fumoleau produced the 1976 film, I Was Born Here (Mon pays est ma vie, 1977) and directed Dene Nation in 1979. "Dene Nation" was produced by the Dene Nation.

The textual records relate to an Alberta court case, Benoit et.al. v. R, which concerned Treaty 8. It also includes the 1999 thesis dissertation of Marine Le Puloch entitled 'Le Traite no. 8 au Canada, beneficiaires et exclus'. The sound recordings are from two films. One is from the film 'Dene Nation', and is an original recording by Gerry Cheezie. The second sound recording is an original recording by Jim Balsillie created for the film 'I Was Born Here.' Rene Fumoleau was the director and/or producer of the film projects of the same names.

The posters relate to Native Rights, land claims, Western Constitutional Forum, Constitutional Conferences, the Papal visit to Fort Simpson, Denendeh Community Development, Dene National Assembly, Dene and Metis Art Exhibition and the Norman Wells Pipeline. The following organizations are also promoted Tungavik Federation of Nunavut and Dene Nation. In addition there are several posters that were produced by the Native Communications Society. One series documents seasonal hunting and trapping activities of aboriginal peoples and the other series promotes the NWT Native Courtworkers Association, NWT Metis Association, Tree of Peace Friendship Centre, NWT Native Women's Association and the Dene Nation. The remaining material consists of a copy of the Dene Declaration, Metis Declaration, a poster showing all Treaty Agreements between aboriginal people and the Government of Canada, Canada's First People's map and a Centennial Map of the Northwest Territories.
