The negatives were made from photographic prints taken by the donor's father Frederick B. "Ted" Watt. The images date from 1929-1933 and include first air mail flight to Aklavik, images of floatplanes and pilots, prospecting and staking activities and the establishment of the Cameron Bay settlement and mine.

Records include a booklet titled The Story of Discovery, Northwest Territories, produced by the Discovery Women's Institute, which offers photographs and a history of the townsite and its residents. This accession also contains a program titled Commemorating the Dawson Patrol February 16-March 14, 1970 and a promotional pamphlet for the town of Yellowknife produced by the Yellowknife Board of Trade.

Records include photographs of Port Radium and Cameron Bay during the 1930s. The images depict life at the uranium mine, recreational activities, mining operations, mining employees, transportation and wildlife in the area. In addition, there are images of Fort Resolution, Fort Reliance, water transportation along Great Slave Lake, whaling and trapping.

The black and white images document a ceremony to erect a plaque at Port Radium on July 16, 1978 commemorating the uranium industry. The colour print depicts the unveiling of a plaque erected at Fort McPherson on July 7, 1977. Included in the images are Chief Johnny Kay [Kyikavichik], Dr. Henry Cook, R.P. Malis of Parks Canada, Father G. Duchaussois and Mr. Chuck Vaydik of the Northwest Territories Chamber of Mines.

The reports were written by Ryan Silke and date between June to August 2005. The reports document historical buildings in the Yellowknife area. Titles include: "Historical overview of the Negus Mine and Camp area", "Historical building inventory - Old Town area", "Historical building inventory - Downtown area" and, "Giant Mine townsite".

This artificial collection includes photos of the 1961 Northwest Territories Tourist Association convention, Con Mine, Discovery Mine, Giant Mine, Negus Mine, Rycon Mine and mining activities in the 1930s. In addition, there are images of Yellowknife, Detah (Indian Village) [Dettah], and Goldfields, SK in the 1930s and 1940s and Federal Government employees based in Yellowknife in the 1950s.

The images include mine sites, Arctic Red River in 1925, river transportation, a hand coloured photo of Fort Simpson taken by C. W. Mathers, circa 1901, the Ingraham hotel, 1947, reindeer at Richard Island and a rock inscribed "S. Hearne, July 1767."

The images include the Eldorado mine site, Charles Lyon and Jim Cook, Fort Smith and a painting of Sir Francis L. McClintock.

This accession consists of one map entitled "Plan of Cameron Bay Settlement" compiled from surveys conducted by M. Meikle D.L.S. on August 25, 1933 and produced by the Department of the Interior. The map is scale: 100 feet to an inch. Cameron Bay was the name of the town that sprang up after Gilbert Labine's discovery of silver and radium. The settlement was officially named Port Radium in 1937 and then renamed Echo Bay in 1965. The locations and identifications of Royal Canadian Mounted Police buildings appear to have been annotated on the original map.

This accession consists of one receipt issued to Lafferty from the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada, Ltd. Commissariat.

It is a promotional video produced by the Cominco mining company in the early 1980s to illustrate the gold mining operations at the company's Con Mine in Yellowknife. The 21:20 video focusses on the industrial aspects of the operation and is not historical in nature. Cominco sold the mine to Nerco in 1986.

Records include photocopies of three discussion papers/reports produced by different consulting firms. They include "Northern Mineral Strategy - A Discussion Paper," by Chamberlin/Reid; "Study on Different Modes of Transportation for Resupply in the Western Arctic," by Peter A. Seage, an independent consultant and expeditor from Inuvik, March 1980; and "Imperial Oil Ltd., Drilling Plans in Davis Strait," produced by Smith, Weisbeck and Associates and presented to the Northwest Territories Standing Committee on Resource Management on October 26, 1977.

Records date from 1960-1987 and were originally part of the Central Registry filing system, and were administered by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The records are from the following central registry blocks: 60 - Directorate (2.2 meters); 61 Block - Tourism (0.2 meters); 62 Block - Industry and Commerce (4.3 meters); 64 Block - Research and Evaluation (5.5 meters); 67 Block -Employment (0.7 meters); 68 Block - Administration (0.1 meters); 69 Block - Loans and Grants (1 meter). This accession also includes miscellaneous reports (0.3 meters). The Directorate files (60 block) contains primarily planning and policy files pertaining to the following subjects: Nanasivik, Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, and Hire North. There are just a few tourism files (61 Block). The Industry and Commerce files (62 Block) cover topics such as Co-operative development including regional reports; Credit Union development; arts and crafts support; EDA (Economic Development Agreement with the federal government); and marketing files. There are sampled case files. The Research and Evaluation files (64 Block) consist primarily of research files on various companies and industries. The focus is primarily on the mining and oil and gas industries. The Employment files (67 Block) consists of files related to employment figures in general as well as some specific files on the mining industry. It includes files on the Local Employment Assistance Program. The Administration file (68 Block) consists of a file related to a Regional Superintendent's Conference. The Loans and Grants files (69 Block) contain records related to loan and grant funds administered by the department such as: Small Business Loans fund; Fisherman Loan Fund; Eskimo Loan Fund. A small number of case files have been sampled. There is also a small collection of miscellaneous reports dealing with marketing plans and economic prospects for the NWT. In addition, there are reports about the Co-operative movement and the Small Business Loan fund.

Included in this material are files relating to development of the lead/zinc mine and municipal services at the Nanisivik town site near Arctic Bay on Strathcona Sound.

Records date from 1994-1998 and relate to policy development for resource community infrastructure, an economic policy framework, development of the Protected Areas Strategy, correspondence and meeting notes from the Technical Advisory Committee to the NWT Water Board, reports and meeting notes from the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on mineral development, including a report on Aboriginal involvement in the mineral industry, as well as files from the Working Committee on Traditional Knowledge. There are also record regarding the consolidation of the Departments of Renewable Resources, Economic Development and Tourism and Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

This accession consists of records from the Policy and Planning division of the Department of Renewable Resources, including a functional inventory of the Government of the Northwest Territories and reviews and responses to policies, strategies, initiatives, and guidelines.

The images show the old Thompson-Lundmark Gold Mines, Ltd. mine site. The mine operated in the in the 1930 through the 1940s.

The photographs were taken at Pine Point in June 1988. Subjects include deserted homes and the exterior of the Pine Point Mine, including the General Office and the mine site.

Records include documents on a variety of subjects collected by Commissioner Hodgson, including constitutional development, resource development of proposed zinc mining on Cornwallis Island and the 1970 NWT Centennial celebrations.
