The records are made up of three files of correspondence and two blue print maps of leased areas documenting applications and maintenance of surveying permits for petroleum and natural gas exploration in the south Great Slave Lake region including, Pine Point and Presquille Point areas.

Records include photocopies of three discussion papers/reports produced by different consulting firms. They include "Northern Mineral Strategy - A Discussion Paper," by Chamberlin/Reid; "Study on Different Modes of Transportation for Resupply in the Western Arctic," by Peter A. Seage, an independent consultant and expeditor from Inuvik, March 1980; and "Imperial Oil Ltd., Drilling Plans in Davis Strait," produced by Smith, Weisbeck and Associates and presented to the Northwest Territories Standing Committee on Resource Management on October 26, 1977.

Records date from 1960-1987 and were originally part of the Central Registry filing system, and were administered by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The records are from the following central registry blocks: 60 - Directorate (2.2 meters); 61 Block - Tourism (0.2 meters); 62 Block - Industry and Commerce (4.3 meters); 64 Block - Research and Evaluation (5.5 meters); 67 Block -Employment (0.7 meters); 68 Block - Administration (0.1 meters); 69 Block - Loans and Grants (1 meter). This accession also includes miscellaneous reports (0.3 meters). The Directorate files (60 block) contains primarily planning and policy files pertaining to the following subjects: Nanasivik, Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, and Hire North. There are just a few tourism files (61 Block). The Industry and Commerce files (62 Block) cover topics such as Co-operative development including regional reports; Credit Union development; arts and crafts support; EDA (Economic Development Agreement with the federal government); and marketing files. There are sampled case files. The Research and Evaluation files (64 Block) consist primarily of research files on various companies and industries. The focus is primarily on the mining and oil and gas industries. The Employment files (67 Block) consists of files related to employment figures in general as well as some specific files on the mining industry. It includes files on the Local Employment Assistance Program. The Administration file (68 Block) consists of a file related to a Regional Superintendent's Conference. The Loans and Grants files (69 Block) contain records related to loan and grant funds administered by the department such as: Small Business Loans fund; Fisherman Loan Fund; Eskimo Loan Fund. A small number of case files have been sampled. There is also a small collection of miscellaneous reports dealing with marketing plans and economic prospects for the NWT. In addition, there are reports about the Co-operative movement and the Small Business Loan fund.

Records date from 1973-1990 and consist of Plans and Program files relating to the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, Nanisivik Mines, Polar Gas Project and Beaufort Delta Oil Project. In addition, there are Committee files from the Regional Management Committee in Inuvik and Inuvik Regional Health Board and files from Hamlet and Settlement Meetings from the Mackenzie Delta, Western Arctic, Baffin and Great Bear Lake Regions.

This accession consists of records of the Industrial Initiatives division of the Department of Resources and Natural Resources ( RWED, later the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI)), particularly relating to diamond mining (Diavik, BHP, De Beers) and the Mackenzie Gas project. Other projects and locations featured less prominently include the Can Tung Mine, Bathurst Inlet, Lupin Mine, and Paramount Resources (Cameron Hills). The records include meeting material from the Diavik Communities Advisory Board, meetings of various groups related to the Mackenzie Gas Project Socio-Economic Agreement, Deputy Ministers' Pipeline Steering Committee, and Mackenzie Valley Development Project Working Group, briefing material (including briefing notes from other divisions in RWED), speaking notes, grants and contributions policies and procedures, and reports, including Socio-Economic Monitoring Agreement status reports, annual Communities and Diamonds reports, and Economic Accounts 1987-1996.

The records date from 1983-1991 and consist of Ministerial Briefing Books related to a variety of subjects such as the Northern Accord, Energy Committee Meetings, and Mining Conferences. There are also records related to the Northern Oil and Gas Action Program (NOGAP) including project proposals, progress reports, and evaluations.

Records consist of four reports and two guides. The topics cover the mineral, oil and gas, mining and exploration and energy sectors, as well as legislation affecting exploration and mining. There is also a guide/dictionary of growth management strategies.

Records date from 1966-1984 and include project files that relate to the Norman Wells pipeline project, Beaufort Sea Environmental Assessment, Borealis Exploration (Roche Bay Magnetite Project) and Baffinland iron project at Mary River. The files include correspondence, community response and input on various projects, reports from the Beaufort Sea Environmental Assessment Panel, a copy of the discussion draft, Initial Environmental Evaluation for the Borealis Exploration Ltd and appendices, as well as a copy of the feasibility study for the Borealis Roche Bay Magnetite Project.

The records consist of promotional material related to the promotion of sustainable opportunities in the energy, mines and petroleum resource industry and supporting industry. This accession contains the regional promotional material and an overarching vision statement from Minister Brendan Bell.

The accession consists of records from the Industrial Initiatives Division of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment relating to the negotiation of a socio-economic agreement for the Mackenzie Gas Project in 2006. The records include The Government of the Northwest Territories General Submission to the Joint Review Panel on the Mackenzie Gas Project, responses to JRP Intervenor Requests for Information, socio-economic agreement drafts and terms, draft memorandum of intent and memorandum of understanding, information items and updates, presentation slides, and other related records.

This accession consists of records from the Policy, Legislation and Communications division of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment. The records include material from internal ITI meetings on the Mackenzie Gas Project National Energy Board proceedings and ITI publications from 2008, including the Sahtu Regional Newsletter (August 2008), Grants and Contributions Programs Results Report 2007/2008, Canada/NWT Agriculture Policy Framework Agreement Small Scale Foods/Community Garden Initiative, and various draft articles.
