Included are images of buildings and surrounding areas of Tsiigehtchic (Arctic Red River), Sachs Harbour, Inuvik, Arviat (Eskimo Point), and Rankin Inlet. Many pictures show friends, Royal Canadian Mounted Police personnel and family at dances, parties, parades, waterskiing and family gatherings. Hunting scenes are also included as well as Indigenous people and their lifestyle.
Records consist of eight reports were written by Ryan Silke and date between 2001-2004. The reports document abandoned or demolished Yellowknife buildings including the Knutsen Sheet Metal Shop, Canadian Tire Building, Con Mine Camp and Waterfront, Old Vaydik House, The House of Horrors and Akaitcho Hall Building. Two of the reports contain inventories of Plaques, Murals and Displays in Yellowknife, as well as an inventory of New Town Historical Buildings.

City of Yellowknife Heritage CommitteeThe majority of the images feature Hay River and include: the Hay River Anglican mission and school, staff and students; Canon Vale; the Storkersons; trapping and fishing; and buildings from the 1950s. Norman Wells oil wells are also featured. Henry Jones took four of the photographs.
The images include mine sites, Arctic Red River in 1925, river transportation, a hand coloured photo of Fort Simpson taken by C. W. Mathers, circa 1901, the Ingraham hotel, 1947, reindeer at Richard Island and a rock inscribed "S. Hearne, July 1767."
Records include a certificate of incorporation, by-laws, meeting minutes, annual reports, correspondence regarding the Society, museum, and other projects, building plans for the Museum of the North, museum opening records, including a speech and guest book, a brief and agreement with the Territorial government, and information about various artifacts and archives held by the Society.
Records include photographs which are reproductions of federal government issues. Originally, a collection of over 2,000 lantern slides reproduced from various federal departmental sources, the majority of slides did not relate to the Northwest Territories and consequently they were forwarded to the National Archives of Canada in 1990. These colour images document the scenery, town sites and local people, including Dene and Inuit, of the Northwest Territories and includes many images of the Harry Snyder Canadian Expedition (1937).

Series A consists of items :0001 to :0034, which were taken in the Nahanni Butte area in 1970 possibly by Norman Simmons. Series B consists of items :0035 to :0050 which show the construction of a styrofoam igloo by Erik Anoee and David Akkoekotak at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. Series C consists of items :0051 to :0068 which show sites of the Canol Project. The photographs from Series C were taken in the winter of 1977, possibly by the Curator of Collections from the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. Included in these images are buildings such as chapels, warehouses, repair shops, power plants and hangars.

Chris Hanks, Sub arctic Archaeologist for the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, took the photographs in 1986. Chris Hanks delivered an anthropology course for the Renewable Resources Technology Program at Thebacha College in Fort Smith. Part of the program involved the documentation of historic buildings in the area.
