This accession consists of one receipt issued to Lafferty from the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada, Ltd. Commissariat.

It is a promotional video produced by the Cominco mining company in the early 1980s to illustrate the gold mining operations at the company's Con Mine in Yellowknife. The 21:20 video focusses on the industrial aspects of the operation and is not historical in nature. Cominco sold the mine to Nerco in 1986.

The images show the old Thompson-Lundmark Gold Mines, Ltd. mine site. The mine operated in the in the 1930 through the 1940s.

Records include photographs of the Viking Yellowknife Gold Mines Limited property at Morris Lake. The photographs were taken in the summer of 1947 and depict a Fox Moth airplane (CF-BNI) moored on the mine property, where Byrne was working as a consultant mining engineer. There are also photographs of Norman W. Byrne, his wife Rose, and his son Donald.

The images show mining operations in the Yellowknife area including Con Mine, Giant Mine and Ptarmigan Mine; housing in Yellowknife; and construction of the Alberta Resources Railway line. They were taken by David Williamson during his time in Yellowknife and northern Alberta.

This accession consists of six black and white photographs taken by Jack Horan in Yellowknife and one illustrated oversize newspaper insert from the "Edmonton Bulletin" entitled "Yellowknife! World's Largest Potential Gold Field". The photographs show miners, and the Con Mine site.

Two of the photographs are mounted on calendars from 1952. The single image (:0001) shows Con camp in July 1936. It shows three aircraft and several tents. One of the two calendars was distributed by Ted Cinnamon, Yellowknife agent for Imperial Oil Ltd and features a photograph (:0003) showing oil trucks, a tractor train, and oil tanks along the shore of Great Slave Lake - Latham Island. The second calendar features a picture (:0002) of a boat, possibly the Radium Yellowknife and was distributed by the Lakeview Coffee Shop.

Both formats feature an interview with John Larson, a former employee at Con Mine, recorded by Tony Mayo in 1975. The interview was originally recorded on the audio cassette tape and later copied to audio reel for preservation purposes.

Records include photographs from the files of the "Canadian Mining Journal". The images show mining operations in the NWT with a particularly strong focus on the mines in and around Yellowknife. The photographs document buildings and operations of Giant Mine, Salmita Mine, Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company (Con Mine), Negus Mine and Tundra Gold Mines. There are also photographs of the Burwash Camp and the Yellowknife Bakery.

The videocassette consists of "The City of Yellowknife", part of the series "Sketches of Our Town." The video, hosted and narrated by Harvey Kirck, was filmed in the fall of 1991. It depicts Yellowknife past and present, and includes archival material, and interviews with residents Michael Borden, Dave Lovell, Barb Cameron, Walt Humphries and pilot Jim McAvoy.
